Today marks the start of the 2013-14 school year in many states across the country open their fall camps in cross country, field hockey, football and soccer.  The opening of camps means numerous national media outlets will be releasing their national rankings in each sport.

Today, we take a look at the boys' and girls' cross country rankings from XCnation.com.

Below are the preseason rankings that include many of the top teams from last season, including defending boys' national champ Arcardia (California) and Fayetteville Manlius (New York), which has won seven straight national championships.

We're coming down the home stretch of the high school cross country season, but there's still a lot of running to take place with nationals down the road.

All season long, XCnation.com's David Taylor has been keeping us up-to-date with the ever-changing XC landscape in what is probably been the best ever high school cross country season.

The biggest changes to XCnation.com's Super 50 is on the girls' side where there's a new #1.

Birmingham Seaholm takes-over the top spot with a perfect power ranking after beating former #1 Grosse Pointe South in the Michigan Division 1 championship. 

With Seaholm's move to the top and six-time defending national champ Fayetteville-Manlius falling to #4, it's possible the Hornets streak of national titles may be coming to an end.

XCnation.com National Cross Country Rankings

There's no change at the top of the latest XCnation.com/NHSCA National Team Rankings.

On the boys' side of the equation, defending national champion Arcadia (California) remains #1 after a strong showing at the Surf City Huntington Beach Central Park Invitational.  The Apaches placed five runners in the top 10.

Arcadia is trying to become the first boys' team ton win back-to-back national titles since Mead High School (Washington) did it in 1992 and 1993.  Click here to read a story from XCnation.com on the Apaches.

Only four schools in all have been able to reign as national champs in back-to-back years.  Carmel (Indiana) did it in 1981 and 1982; Deerfield (Illinois) did it in 1976 and 1977; and South Eugene (Oregon) had a three-peat from 1973 through 1975.

On the girls' side, Fayetteville Manlius is rolling toward its sixth straight national championship after an impressive day at the 39th Annual Manhattan Invitational Girls Eastern Championship Race.  F-M topped #5 Tatnall (Delaware), #7 North Shore (New York) and #27 Champlain Valley (Vermont).
