It's not hard to figure-out why MaxPreps has placed Florida's Archbishop McCarthy at the top of the stack for the 2014 high school baseball season.  The prep sports website has named the Mavericks the #1 team in the nation in its Xcellent Top 25 Preseason Rankings, of which it revealed its Top 10 teams, one-by-one over the last ten days.

Archbishop McCarthy will be going for a record fifth straight Florida state championship this year with eight starters back from its 2013 squad.  MaxPreps reports that the Mavericks have three pitchers - Brian Gonzalez, Andres Nunez and Aaron Soto - that may be drafted in the Major League Baseball Draft in June.

Below is the rest of the Top 10…

1. Archbishop McCarthy (Florida)
2. Owasso (Oklahoma)
3. Cypress Ranch (Texas)
4. Venice (Florida)
5. Milton (Georgia)
6. Barbe (Louisiana)
7. Harvard-Westlake (California)
